Refund policy

1. Overview

This Returns & Refunds Policy applies to all purchases made from Card Sensei (“we”, “us”, “our”).

We aim to ensure all products are accurately described and securely delivered. This policy outlines your rights and our obligations, including those under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

 

2. Change of Mind

We do not accept returns for change of mind, including:

  • selecting the wrong card

  • no longer wanting the item

  • purchasing in error

Please ensure you review all product details carefully before completing your purchase.

 

3. Condition-Based Returns

All cards are sold in accordance with our stated condition categories and Disclaimer & Condition Policy.

Returns will not be accepted where:

  • the condition of the card falls within the described grading category

  • the concern relates to minor imperfections typical of that condition

  • the issue is based on subjective grading expectations

Trading card condition is inherently subjective, and minor variations do not constitute a fault.

 

4. Items Not as Described or Faulty

If a product is materially different from its description, damaged in transit, or otherwise fails to meet consumer guarantees, you may be entitled to a remedy.

Examples may include:

  • receiving the wrong card

  • receiving a card in significantly worse condition than described

  • receiving an item that is damaged beyond what is reasonable for the stated condition

In such cases, we will meet our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act, which may include:

  • replacement (where available)

  • refund

  • store credit, where appropriate

 

5. Return Process

To request a return or report an issue, please contact us within a reasonable timeframe of receiving your order.

You must provide:

  • your order number

  • a description of the issue

  • clear photographs of the item received

We may request the item to be returned before issuing a resolution.

Returns must be sent to Card Sensei, PO Box 836, Whangaparaoa 0949.

 

6. Return Conditions

Where a return is approved:

  • the item must be returned in the same condition it was received

  • the item must be securely packaged to prevent damage in transit

We reserve the right to decline a return if the item has been:

  • altered

  • damaged after delivery

  • handled in a way that affects its condition

 

7. Shipping Costs

  • If a return is approved due to a fault or error on our part, we will cover reasonable return shipping costs

  • For all other approved returns (if applicable), the customer is responsible for return shipping

Shipping costs are non-refundable unless required under New Zealand consumer law.

 

8. Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method where possible.

Please allow a reasonable timeframe for:

  • return delivery

  • inspection of the item

  • processing of the refund

 

9. Order Issues and Delivery

If your order is lost or damaged in transit, please contact us promptly.

We will work with the shipping provider to investigate and determine an appropriate resolution.

 

10. Consumer Guarantees

Nothing in this policy limits or overrides your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

Where required, we will provide remedies in accordance with New Zealand law.
